Here's a question I bet someone can answer...I've had my 04 xj8 for a week as of today. It's in great shape with high miles (181,000) and I got it for a great price, fully expecting that it will need some love ($$$) to get it all straight.
A minor issue is that it didn't come with a spare tyre. Is there another vehicle that uses the same lug pattern ? I'd like to get some kind of spare but not necessarily an alloy jaguar wheel...just something for an emergency. Any suggestions?

These cars all came with a "space saver tyre" as far as I know. i.e. not a spare full tyre/mag.
Interestingly, neither of my Honda Insight nor MB A180 (bit of a range there) come with a spare tyre at all. You are supposed to use a squirty thing, or call roadside service, apparently.
As far as I can remember without pulling it out, oh OK I will, the plastic-topped extended hold-down bolt for the spare wheel, also appears to support the middle of the boot floor above it. If you are carrying heavy golf clubs or something I suppose.
Fact: Last tyre change I did due to puncture was around 1995. And I'm not known for Lucky.
Fact: It's tyre not tire! Do you know how much troubling research I had to spend on this matter?
Anyway, here's some photos of my spare (note the pips-never been used!)
The writing pressed in the tyre says:
PIRELLI [my main tyres are Bridgestone]
SPARE TYRE TEMPORARY USE ONY
135/80 R18 [my main tyres are R19 but doesn't matter for a spare]
INFLATE TO 420KPA(60PSI)
TURK MALI (whassat?)
The yellow label has some Jap or Chinese, indeed my car was imported from Japan. But then, the label also appears to have some Arabic.
Just when I thought I was buying a British car....lol
My 2004 had a full size on the same rim as the car. Last tire change I had them mount a new tire on the spare rim and place one of the old tires as the spare. I couldn't see keeping a 16 year old tire as the spare, it looked good but I did not trust it.
Damn. I feel ripped off with my Space Saver.
And it's not even a "Space Saver", if a full-size will fit.
Thanks for the correction, from you rich-country guys
You or a previous owner sure were ripped off.
Refurbished wheels are not all that expensive.
Then the next time you replace tires.
Just leave the best one mounted for your spare.
