Steering wheel noise
Hi warsaw. please elaborate on the conditions when you experience the noise. Are you @ a stop? Driving? Certain speeds? When turning the wheel or all the time (power steering noise)?

My 04 has a soft noise from the steering wheel when I am turning slowly into my driveway. It emanates from the area between the wheel and the column. I have not had time to deal with it yet as I am trying to get my monitors set. Is that where your noise is from or is it from "outside" in interior?

I too had a bit of a squeaky noise from the steering on my last X350, but my current one doesnt have it. Either that or I've gone a bit deaf in my old age ! The noise sounded like a rubber bush type of noise.
The steering wheel noise is well known and there is an easy fix.

I did mine years ago and just removed 50ml of steering fluid and put 50ml of additive in.
You are only supposed to do this once. The part no of the additive is not the same
as the one I used but I stuck a label on the reservoir and will post the number later.
The additive is only available from Jaguar AFIK and cost about 5GBP (in 2008!)

So I had the squeaky steering wheel. I got the additive, followed the procedure detailed in the thread above and my power steering has gone.
It feels like there's no power assistance any more. It's seriously heavy.
What have I done?
I can only suggest that you scan the vehicle for power steering faults
or reverse the procedure:
ie Remove fluid in reservoir and top up with new power steering oil
Move wheels lock to lock to mix oil
Take care not to introduce air into the oil

AND stupidly I shook the bottle of additive (as it had settled at the bottom) before adding. This will have introduced aeration into the fluid before step 3.
Has this knackered my PAS pump I wonder?
I have a code reader and will see if I have any codes later today and report back
PS for anyone reading this, here's the link to the Jag TSB that I followed: https://redirect.viglink.com/?format...0Procedure.pdf

If it's entrained air you should be OK? Time and use will eventually bleed it out too. If you want to be sure I do this;
Jack up the front end so the wheels can turn freely. I attach a vacuum pump to the top of the PS reservoir. I have a big tapered rubber plug that will fit in the top where the cap goes.
Pull some vacuum on the PS and then start the car and turn the steering wheel back and forth to circulate the fluid. I do find some cars are easier than others to get the air out.

Going to see if my local jag guy can have a look and see what he thinks has happened.
I think the pumps gone but we'll see..
There is a power assist regulator solenoid in the rack assembly.....governs how much assist is needed depending on vehicle speed.
Just check to see if you have inadvertently interrupted the harness plug connection to that.
Edit:
Also check fuse F4 (5 Amp) in passenger Junction Fuse Box. That is the supply to the instrument cluster that is to drive the power steering assist actuator.

I will check the connection to the power assist regulator on the rack later.
Ok,
So the cause of my power steering pump failure.
It was me! When I was removing the 50ml of power steering fluid before adding the Jaguar additive, I used a brand new syringe out of a packet. The syringe was fitted with a small plastic cap which I didn't notice. This ended up in the power steering reservoir. When we got the pump out, it was jammed in the inlet of the pump, blocking it.
So on the negative side, my fault, and its gonna cost a bit.
On the positive side, the syringe cap was complete and wasn't ingested, shredded and sent to the rack!
There is a reason for everything.
Should be back together by tonight with a second hand pump fitted...
