Default Strange Vibration

HI,

I have an XJR 2006 with 150k KMS, it runs fine but sometimes there is a strong vibration which is felt in the cabin and on seats and steering, like the whole car vibrates as if something is struggling to run... I was driving it last night and it happened, I thought maybe its the transmission, so I stopped the car and shifted to P, but still the vibration was there, then after a while it went away and then started again... recently I took it for oil change and noticed steering fluid leak and also leak from the gear box. any idea what could that strange vibration be?

Regards,
Muhammad

If you feel it while the car is in idle or not moving, it could be your engine mounts. You also mentioned a leak, the original engine mounts are fluid filled. Once they get worn they will drip a bit of oil and you will feel engine vibration. Possibility it could be something else, but this would seem to fit your symptoms. Do you ever feel a jump when shifting between park, reverse, and drive? Or while accelerating from a dead stop?

Dear Jazzyjags,

it does everything you mentioned, but when the vibration starts it doesn't go away if I stop the car and leave in in idle, it remains there mostly, sometimes the vibration goes away on its own. also the shifts are lazy sometimes especially if I accelerate hard.

1-vibration
2-jump when shifting to D or driving from a dead stop
3-a lot of squeeking
4-steering oil leak
5-gear oil leak
6-suspension is always hard
7-possibly a knock in one of the cylinders (feels like a misfire)
