If I read that factory vin decoder right, anyone with a 95 is the all in ***** to the wall version. After reading this post as with others it makes you want and not want a Port. My problem is Im negotiating, LOL, with the wife about the XJR. Its her daily driver and I want it back, LOL, but she doesn't want to drive the RR. I think if I swapped the RR for a Port I could have the best of both worlds, LOL. I hate (lucky) you guys with your Ports !

Mine has an 86 and is definitely a Portfolio 2006

Mine also has an 86 and there is no doubt it is a 2006 Portfolio. Erroneous Jaguar documentation strikes again!

Yes, just because it's written, does not make it so!

Default Heritage Certificate

Reviving an old thread here,
my VIN also shows 86, but my recently arrived Heritage Certificate confirms it as being a Portfolio.

Separate codes for Portfolio only appeared for X358 on (afaik). Comparing VIN decoders up to 2007 and the one for up to 2009 shows the extra codes added.

Pete M

Up to 07 no Portfolio codes

Up to 09 Portfolio codes now

You're right, Pete M, but it's nice to have something in writing so that I don't have to argue with people that think they know better, but don't

Unfortunately, that's so true... I have actually learned something new, because I had always thought that Portfolios were exclusively for the US market and maybe Japan, but not delivered new in Europe.

Best regards,

Thomas

Thomas-S, mine was originally sold in Italy. The previous owner brought it to Germany, which makes me, most probably, the third owner so far. I might write to Jaguar Italy to see if I can find some more information on the original owner.
Going through the internet sites it looks as if there were all sorts of X358 Portfolios made, including Diesels. For me the X350 with the pre-facelift bumpers is certainly the more desirable.

That's curious, my SV8 (a "normal" one, not a portfolio) was also sold new in Italy, and in this case it was also registered to Jaguar Italy for app. the first 2.5 years.
I bought it in Italy myself in 2018 and are the fourth owner.
We have the same taste regarding the pre-facelift bumpers, I also prefer the look of them.

Best regards,

Thomas
