Tranny refill question
I was wondering how many quarts I need on hand to fill up if I drop the line on the lower tranny line on the radiator side? Basically just unbolt that lower line at the radiator side and replace that oring and put it back.
Suspecting an oring leak on there that I can diagnose and I can tell the tranny is definitely low on fluid seeing the way it behave when it drives.
I have about 3 new quarts bottle left from the last change and hopefully can get an answer quick within few hours since I will be bringing it to a mechanic in the morning in about few hours time when they open.
Thanks.

Thanks for the replied. After get it check out today the line is i fact leaking and need to be replace.
The cooler line assembly part number that I can find is c2c40418 and wondering if that is the correct part number for 2005 XJR?
With dropping the line how much fluid I have to have on hand to fill up properly? I have feeling that once the line is drop the tranny cooler that is built into the radiator will have some fluid that needs to be replace once it drain out.
Thanks.

Ide just get a pan, bolts, electric sleeve seal, and 6 litres of fluid to be safe and do it all at once. The pan contains the filter, the new bolts offer better retension and less likely to let the pan crack not to mention its no uncommon to chisel a couple bolts to break them loose here in the south. In michigan, good luck. The line replacement is one of the worse job to do so have fun
I agree that using a chisel to strike each bolt will help prevent stripping out the heads by breaking loose the corrosion in the threads. I have not had to replace any bolts and I have done both my cars. I also suggest that if the tranny is acting like it is low on fluid, it needs a check. Put it on a lift, start the engine and run it up to 40 deg C on the tranny oil pan and then open the plug on the side. Be prepared to protect your hands from the very close exhaust. I use a laser temp finder. Fill until oil dribbles out and close it up and shut off the engine. Be sure that you move quickly and keep the oil temp around 40 deg C.
So just came back from line replacing at an independant shop. Paid 200 bucks for the job and tip 30 buck for those guys.
The line is C2C40418 from dealership.
Fluid loss is about maybe 1/3 of the quart bottle.
Car shifting is behave normal now.
They fiddling about 1 hour on trying to fish the line out with no luck, then I told them why don't you guys unclip those three black plastic pieces and see, they unclip those three black plastic bracket and both line were out from the car in five minutes LOL.
Putting in the new line also took out those 3 black plastic bracket and both line were fish in and connected in about 10 minutes just to be carefull.
Phone is acting up and people keep coming up for question about the car so not much picture was taken.
So another question is, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or Galaxy S4 other than the size difference? LOL
Old line on the ground...

New line on the car...

New line in the package...
