Suddennly, upon stopping after a short drive, my engine began to stutter and try to stall when put into ger to move either forward or backward. Has anyone have any thoughts about the problem is? Expert transmission shop hasn't been able to determine the cause.

 

Torque converter 'lock-up' fault/failure?
Should be some DTCs in the TCM?

 

My first thought was torque converter lock up. It's at a trans. repair shop now, waiting to see what the problem is.

 

ANY time .. that "codes" .. of some kind.. are 'expected' - off the back of a VERY obvious fault.. but there are NO CODES at all?

Prime suspect is 'electrical'. eg: intermittent... ground, control bus connection, circuit trace or joint fail on a sensor or controller that is only periodically/randomly/temporarily 'blinding' the snoopervisory logic to what has been happening.

Easy to say.

Harder to locate. Tedious, even.

ESPECIALLY as the intermittent nature may lead a repairman to believe it "resolved" off the back of other work, or mere manipulation... when it is not 'fixed'.. just on holiday...... and will return.
