Default Water in Footwell

In late November I noticed pool of water in the left rear footwell. A little investigation found a very torn drivers door seal. I replaced that, dried out the footwell, and everything was great. Until Wednesday when we had a thunderstorm with heavy rain. Now the footwell is wet again. The seal I replaced is in good condition and is dry. The left rear door seal seems to be in good condition and dry. The sunroof drains appear dry and there are no stains on the headliner. The right hand side of the car is dry.

Where else should I look to find this leak? It’s a 2004 XJR if it makes a difference.

Pull back the door jamb rubber. You'll see another flat rubber piece with two screws on it against the body.

Get marine style clear sealant, pull back the seal, re seal that area, especially on the bottom. Then run a horizontal line of sealant from that area to where your door jamb gasket sits.

Let it dry then reseat your jamb gasket.

Known TSB issue. Rain water runs from the roof down the rear of the door jamb, gets behind that door jamb rubber and collects beneath the rear floor well.

The silicone seals that area and the bead across breaks the water stream if any gets behind your jamb seal.

I'll try and add a pic.

Had to do this on both my X350 vehicles

Thanks, I’ve sealed it. Now I need to wait for more rain to see if it worked.

For anyone else with this problem, here is the TSB: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...to-vehicle.pdf

Default Abonano water in rear passenger

Thanks for all the great info. I am slowly working through all the fixes, still getting water in the rear passenger well. I just noticed your post and picture regarding that gray seal on the door. i am wondering, are you advising to remove that and seal the hole underneath and then seal the top of that gray seal once it is placed back on the door jamb.

I was a bit confused at first, i think i understand, just asking for clarification.

Again, thank you for your knowledge.
