Default What is this door/ window trim part called and how do I fix it?

Hi folks. I'm considering listing my car for sale but want to clean up some minor annoyances first.
I'm unable to locate this trim part in the EPC. I'm not sure of the specific name assigned to it. I really just need to re-attach it properly. It appears to be flexible and I'm guessing it's attached with adhesive tape. Before I remove the rear door card, I thought I'd ask for some help. DOes anyone have a blow up of the part or experience removing and re-attaching?

Thank you

Hi Sean,

It looks like Jaguar calls that the "Door Waist Seal." You can probably use a little weatherstrip adhesive to reattach it. To view it in the EPC, follow this menu tree:

BODY CLOSURES AND SEALING
DOOR GLASSES AND FRAMES
DOOR GLASS AND CHANNEL - REAR
DOOR WAIST SEAL

It's Part 5 in the diagram. I don't believe removing the door card will improve your access because the window glass will still be in your way, so I'd personally use weatherstrip adhesive or double-sided tape, depending on how flush it sits to the top of the door.

Cheers,

Don

Thank you Don! Interestingly can't find reference to this in the repair manual either. Perhaps it part #6in the EPC? In any event the part diagram doesn't help but you have.

I didn't want to pull on the part without first confirming there are no set screws and you're indicating I can lift and re-tape yes?

I replaced one of mine on a Super V8. Don't think tape or glue will hold old one. It's just a friction fit and once it comes loose its pretty done. Someone may have taken it off once and bent it. Mine seemed slight bent. You could push it down but after a little driving it would pop back up like yours.

I bought a new one at dealer. Think it was about $200. Old one just pulls up and off. New one just presses on.
