Essential question: Will any 18 inch wheel from any X350 fit my X358? I'm interested in replacing my 19 inch wheels with low profile tires to an 18/higher sidewall tire for ride quality. Granted my low profile tires may have poor ride quality since they are close to expiry, but it would help in the search if I could assume the above issue. The common response of "try the wheel/tire combination to ensure fit" presupposes that I'm able to borrow a wheel and tire from someone, and that is truly laughable.
Easy way to figure it out (if your '08 is like my '04), open the fuel filler flap. Inside there is sticker of the correct tire pressures. It will show every stock wheel/tire size along with the correct tire pressure. On the '04 it lists 17, 18,19 and 20 inch wheels/tires. If it's on that sticker you'll know it will fit.
Hi Pete,
The limiting factor on what rim sizes fit is the front brake option. There is a high performance brake option that was usually fitted to Super V8 cars. Your car is a 2008, so it will have the ATE brakes, not Brembo. When this option is fitted, 20" and 19" wheels fit, but I think 18" is too small. My 2008 Super V8 has this option and there is about an inch clearance between the caliper and the rim of my 20" wheels.
Here is a pic of my front brake assembly, if it looks different on your car you will be fine to use down to 17" rims.
Whether Brembo or ATE, all supercharged cars, so Super V8, XJR and the Daimler Super 8, have bigger brake rotors than the N/A cars. On the X350, only non supercharged cars can also fit 17" wheels, all the others need at least 18".
If I see it correctly, PeteK, you car does not have a supercharged engine, so it might even fit 17" wheels, but I am pretty sure that 18" will fit.
Does your car have a spare tire, maybe one of the space saver type?. If that one is 18", then your car definitely will fit them.
On my Super V8, I drive 19" in summer nad 18" in winter, and the difference I feel might very well also be related to the fact that summer and winter tires have a different driving feeling, so that probably is not much help for you.
If you have standard 326mm rotors, you can fit any wheels from the X350. They probably have different widths and ETs. Use an ET calculator to ensure the final seat isn't too deep, otherwise your X358 will look unattractive /49 mm in standard/. On a side note: I recently installed LR Velar rims with an ET that's 4mm smaller, and they look really great, even the caps fit perfectly, they're come from the F-Pace.
I spotted a set of 4 aftermarket wheels from a California wrecking yard, and decided to take a gamble. My goal is to decrease the discomfort level from our crummy local streets by changing to a smaller wheel with a taller sidewall. The Ebay seller accepts returns, so I went for it. They will arrive on a pallet in an XPO logistics truck in a few days, so I'll update here. My current wheels are chrome, so I was curious to see what I might find out there. The new ones are also chrome, but maybe over the top; I'll find out soon.
That's right, a higher profile always means greater comfort and driving pleasure. I found my standard 19/40 wheels very comfortable; I thought 20/35 wouldn't make much difference. And here's the real surprise: it's dramatic. Fortunately, I drive this car so little that I decided to ignore it.

I did similar change back to factory design and it had a big impact (XJR 2003 X350). The sophisticated designs like those of the XJ require the exact original combination of wheel size and even tire brand.
I can't remember what was the original tire brand on my 2009 XJ, but surprisingly the well-regarded Michelin Pilot Sport 4 were pulling everywhere but straight. Twice adjusted wheel angles, no help, then changed winter tires, and issues were gone. Pirellis again next summer...?
Yep, the SV8, same as the XJR, needs a minimum of 18".
When I bought my car, unfortunately it did not have anymore the "Prestige" wheels that were standard, so I opted for the 18" "Luxury" wheels in winter and for 19" "Custom" in summer. The "Prestige" wheels are almost unobtainable, and if you find them, they cost an eye and a leg...
Winter look (the wheels had just been fitted and the centre caps were still missing):
Summer look:
Best regards,
Thomas
