Default Where are the Jags?

I've been traveling back and forth to London for the last few weeks and I'm shocked at the small number of Jaguars I've seen.

A handful of XF's, a couple of late model XJ's and only one X350 and I've been in a LOT of traffic! Mercedes, BMW's and Audi's are like flies but I see more Jags in North Carolina! Actually I saw more Aston Martins than Jags.

What's up with that?

I see lots of XF and X351s in Vegas and sometimes see x300s and x308s, but rarely even see x350s here. The last x350 I saw last week had blown front air suspension too.

I guess I just expected since they were manufactured in the UK they would be more common than here.

I love the fact that I can drive all day and see one maybe 2 others on the road!

I believe it's a "size matters" situation.

There are quite a few roads in villages and cities where a typical Jaguar would be impractical, plus taxes and insurance tend to penalize large/expensive cars, fuel cost, etc. It is a great deal cheaper to own and operate a Jaguar in the US than the UK.

Smallest Jaguar was the X-Type, which was really a reskinned Ford Mondeo which is considered a Full Size or Standard car in the UK and Europe. I remember getting upgraded by Hertz to full size in the UK, which turned out to be an Audi A4. At the time, it was the smallest Audi you could buy in the US, but after a week of driving and carparks in the UK, the A4 began to feel a bit oversized.

I couldn't even imagine driving or parking my XJS in a lot of places there. I saw the current XJ around Notting Hill and it just looked massive and out of place.

That's my guess, but hopefully one of UK based members will chime in.

I drive in and out of London a lot, you are right, I can go a week and see maybe 6 other new shape XJ's, it really makes me feel as if mine is a special and exclusive car. In London the S Class Mercs are known as " Knightsbridge Taxis ".
I am only an hour from London, mind you , there are quite a lot of X350 cars, they are actually creeping up in price at the moment if you are looking for a supercharged one. I got very lucky when I got my Super V8 last November, it was around that time that they started going up in price.

I've had my 07 XJR for a year and a half now. It's my favorite of all the cars I've owned. If I won the lottery it would remain my daily driver. I never get tired of it and surprisingly it gets more compliments than my XK8!

I am in Jacksonville NC.

I see x308s once a week, an S type or X type about the same frequency.

I have seen two x350s one being an R. I am number 3... Mine looks the best hehe.

There was an S type R for sale in New Bern for 3500$ (Blown Gasket :-X )

Jaguars all over the place around here in Cheshire. Of course it is no secret that the British are in thrall to German cars. Motorists here have long memories and remember 1980s Jaguar bad quality and heavy petrol consumption. Of course as we all know on this forum, all that is history, but even so, Jaguar have a long haul to get back to sustainable sales in the UK and Europe. The new XE should allow this. Cars like the XF are commonplace in and around Manchester and Cheshire, but you won't see many new XJs, they are just too big and expensive. I regularly see the sports cars too.

When I was in England about five years ago on a business trip, I saw a fair number of X and S Types but not a whole lot of XJs. The XJs are enormous for English roads. The ones I did see were chauffeur driven.
