1995 xjr super high idle
Hello,
Sorry it's me again. Yesterday I started up the jag and the idle started to jump up. First it would idle at 1400 rpm, i would tap the gas paddle and the idle would jump up to 2800 rpm and stay there. I shut it off again and start up and it would stay at 2800 rpm. Is there something I need to be looking for? Could it be the TPS sensor? What is that vacuum line that goes from the throttle body diagram thing to the left front side of the engine compartment? The line is plugged into two different components(one is a hella air component and the other looks like a cylinder that has a mesh screen on one side) I know that these pieces are responsible for the throttle opening and closing.
Thanks again in advance Bastiaan

I agree that cleaning the throttle body is a good first step and will probbaly solve the problem.....although it's not easy to do. As far as electronics go, the idle air control valve would be more likely.
Easier, though, would be to check that the throttle cable isn't sticking. Assuming you have traction control the cable from the pedal goes first to the traction control unit and then to the throttle body, with two adjusters about mid-way along, up near the firewall.

I think you're talking about the boost bypass valve and the cruise control bellows. Not sure about the third item....cylinder with mesh screen. I look at my car if I have time today and try to help with that.

Hello, thanks for the reply! Yes the plastic piece that holds the cable going from the abs and trac control unit was broken. Had to glue it back in.
I will probably have to clean the throttle body. That probably means I will have to take the intercooler out to get access to it. Where is the idle valve control located, is it close to the throttle body?
Thanks again you guys rock!

The air control is on the throttle body.
Some have reported removing the throttle body with intercooler/intake manifold in place but I've never been able to figure out how.
Cheers
