Welcome to the forum reddboy,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X300 forum. This is the place to post technical questions about your model.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some information about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

Hi reddboy,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.

I believe the Engine Service section of the Workshop Manual should provide the information you need. You can download the manual from this forum at the link below:

Jaguar X300 Workshop Manual

Cheers,

Don

See page 33 and 56 and 61 of the file below :

This is for a 96 AJ16 inline 6

Tool # 18G 1433 can be substituted with 2 / 6 or better 12 inch metal rulers placed in the slots on the camshafts and looking with your eyeball to see if they are level to each other

Harbor Freight is cheep if the garage don't already have 2 , call first

https://www.harborfreight.com/12-inc...ler-66199.html

This depends on you garage as to weither this is an acceptable method
