abs light & trac off after replacing pads?
Hello once again. I'm getting ready for a road trip and I came across a big issue with my abs light & trac off when I replaced my rear pads on my 97 XJR. The previous owner topped off the brake reservoir so I had to remove some by siphoning and I was using a c-clamp to press the pistons back. I replaced the pads, didn't disconnect any sensors or nothing, topped off the reservoir with jaguar brake fluid and now my abs light & trac off is on. I reset the ecu with removing the negative terminal from the battery for 15-20 minutes and that didn't help. Any suggestions? The front pads were fresh they didn't need to be touched except for the rears.
I had to replace my throttle cable and I think my sensor on the traction control got miss-adjusted during the process. I'm looking at this diagram and following directions, but it seems to not be working. I adjusted the wire until the pin contacted the sensor.
The ABS module will have DTC(s) logged for diagnosis.
I know that no one seems to want to find or pay somebody to read the codes but it speeds up the process of repair.
We can all guess or you can throw parts at it until you get the right one but...............
Find someone with WDS, IDS, PDU etc. would be my suggestion.

Also, on ABS-equipped vehicles, it is a good idea when pressing the pistons back to open the bleed nipple to allow dirty fluid to drain into a catch-bottle rather than being pushed back into the brake lines. When finished with the job, top up the master cylinder with fresh fluid from a just-opened bottle (a bottle that has been previously opened and has been sitting on a shelf may have absorbed moisture from the air). Better yet, if it's been a while, flush and bleed the entire brake system with fresh fluid.
Cheers,
Don
