Default ABS Sensor update

Just for the benefit of anybody who may have been following my ABS sensor saga, I have clarified things in relation to the different sized sensors. The reason the sensor that I got is too long to fit into its socket is because it is a FRONT sensor! Studying illustrations and part numbers on ebay revealed my error!

So, for the record, the sensors all look the same except that the front are a simple metal, cylindrical body, with a black plastic extension. The rears are short, metal, cylindrical, without the black plastic extension piece.

Official part numbers are; LNA 2220 AB Front, LNA 2221 AB Front

LNA 2222 AB Rear Right (Drivers side on RHD)

LNA 2223 AB Rear Left (Passenger side on RHD)

Apparently, the rears are interchangeable with each other, although the Left sensor also doubles as a wheel speed sensor for other functions.

So, now, all I need ( rather badly) is a right rear drivers side sensor. Some available on ebay etc. but most are crazy money.

See, this is partly how I became dazed and confused. The diagram above, marked by you as part no LNA 2220 AB, shows two sensors, one of which is indeed LNA 2220 AB, that is the front sensor, which you can clearly see has a longer body. The rear sensor, LNA 2222 AB has the shorter body. But the right one is in the post as I type, so, watch this space, again!!

As you say above there are 2 different part no.s for Right and Left sensors. But they are not interchangeable. Functionally they are the same but they are handed, so if you swap them around the cable will be pointing the wrong way.

Belated thanks for you efforts. I have the correct one on the way from ebay, so hopefully, this will be the end of my issues, for now!

Thanks again.
