Question Anyone else not a fan of the X300 gas or accelerator pedal? Alternatives?

Well, first let me say I realize that I'll probably just get used to the accelerator pedal of the X300 over time, but on the other hand I've already driven my "new" 97 XJR for about 30 hours, 19 of them straight

I've personally found the 97 XJR pedal to be far too small and narrow, and I have a hard time finding a good position on the pedal and find myself "hunting" all around. I also find myself catching my shoe on the console tunnel and even hanging up on something immediately above the pedal. There just doesn't seem to be a lot of room, and not a lot of feedback from the size and shape of the pedal to properly and comfortably locate my foot. The pedal also just doesn't feel very substantial.

Again, I'm relatively sure I'll just get used to the pedal configuration over time, but I'm not 100% certain it will ever feel right.

So I was wondering if anyone else whose found the stock pedal to be less than ideal has found some modification or perhaps aftermarket pedal or pedal cover that helps?

I'm not one to pay top dollar for some completely cosmetic "drilled aluminum racing pedal (covers)" ... but if someone has tried some sort of other pedal or cover that helps with the issues I've described, I love to hear what you used and how well it worked.

This discussion goes on all the time in the X308 section, but haven't seen much of it
in the X300 section.

Does your pedal look like this type:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...lastic-131775/

or is it an all plastic new and improved version? I have seen both on ebay.

The X308 uses an all plastic pedal box as well as plastic pedals for both
brake and gas pedals

The thing that will catch the top of your shoe in the X308 is a heating duct
behind the pad. If you have the same, get a hacksaw blade, trouble light and mirror,
then cut the duct back to taste.

Thumbs up Thanks, good suggestion!

Yeah, that's what mine looks like.

I've gotten used to it now frankly for the most part, and the 'problem' improved as well once I was able to fix my seat so the front of the bottom cushion could be adjusted up off of the floor

What do the folks in the X308 section do to improve the pedal?

The end of my shoe does catch something up top sometimes as you mentioned, so I'll look into the modifying the duct as you suggest!
