Default best OBDII scanner for x300

What is a good OBDII scanner for a x300? I have been looking at various different ones priced between $68 and $349.

What is it you want it to do? Just pull codes? The u480 is probably $15 or less.

I am looking for a scanner that will have the ability to clear codes on ABS and SRS, be able to read all functions etc. It also should work on my 2015 Mini and 2016 Mazda6.

That’s gonna cost you a lot more than $345 then. I don’t know about the Mini and the Mazda, but I’m order to access and clear ABS and Transmission codes on the Jaguar, it will need to be loaded with Jaguar specific software.

For the right amount, you can buy equipment that can also load BMW (for the Mini?) and Mazda protocols as well, but we’re probably talking about a four digit price.

Please keep us posted if you happen to find something that works!

Let me point you to this thread.
You can load bmw and Mazda on here as well but can not comment on these.

Hi I have the TRANS mil light flashing ((1995 X300 4.0L) - have changed the TRANS control module to the recommended one but still cannot clear the flashing light. I don't get any codes with the current OBDII I have - do you think that the AUTEL might help out here ?

Sounds like it will.

is your light flashing, or on steadily?

You shouldn’t need to clear the light, as the transmission will run a self test upon restart. But the OBD2 reader will pull the code, which should be invaluable to solving your problem.

Is the car driving normally?

Hi light is flashing all the time. Trans runs perfectly but I get no codes at all relating to the Trans. Clearing all codes on my current OBDii does not stop the flashing light. I have also put back the old TRANS ecu and nothing changes? Stumped?

Do you KNOW that your ODB reader can READ TRANS codes?

You should order that OBD2 reader so you can pull the transmission code. Not sure anyone can help you without knowing what the code, or problem is.

I can guarantee that the OBD2 reader will pay for itself, since it will pull the Jaguar specific ABS and Transmission codes, as well as the common P codes.

Something is clearly not right. You have a transmission light on (steady, not blinking) and an OBD2 reader that (allegedly) reads Jaguar specific transmission codes, but you come up empty?

How can we be sure that the reader does indeed read Jaguar specific transmission codes?

Have you ever been able to pull a transmission code previously? Any code? Is this the first time youre using this reader?
