Browns Lane, Coventry, UK - Visit
On the request of Steve in the X300 v12 thread here are some pics from
Browns Lane, Coventry, England. Home of JAGUAR

As you know I also own a 420G it is actually the 40th from last off the production line (RHD). There was only about 5763 made recently i read an article by Quentin Wilson that there was only about 100 good models left in the UK. I got thinking where did they all go, I know a lot went to the states but where did the rest go ?
I contacted Jaguar Heritage Museum which is a small site next to what used to be the main Jaguar site, I had a reply from Anders Ditlev Clausager,
Chief Archivist - Jaguar Heritage. Inviting me to come to Coventry and go through the documents so I did...
Entrance to the Main site

The famous Lane:

My car in the car park:

The site where the old factory once stood in the background.
The documents i was going through some pages dated from 1930

I did run out of time on this visit to do a full tour of the museum but hope to be going back in a fortnight a few shots from the outside though till I post my shots from my next visit

Enjoy....

Thank you Car-Nut, thank you very much! Looks as though the building that's left has been altered somewhat from what I recall. I remember walking the alley between the old factory and the other buildings. What a loss to see the factory building razed. So much rich history there, building Jaguars, building Spitfires during the war. The guy that took folks around the property seemed very proud to explain the fading camouflage that could still be seen in places on the roof in aerial views, and the wavy elevated walkways, wavy from year upon year of repainting such that the paint thickness had reached almost 4 centimeters.
Time marches on........
Thank you again!

I found myself back again, first of all in the "big boys toy shop" before some number crunching up in the archives.

Where it all began:

Why they began it:

One of the first cars as seen in the Newby Hall show last year check the photography section.

Thank you Car-Nut, very much. I see the former HQ building now houses many more cars than it did on my last visit in 1997. I saw some I recognized, though.
Attached are a few from days of yore! I can't seem to get them in the post itself.
Thanks again!
