Hi ,
I recently acquired a 95 base XJ6 with the dimple wheels, but all the caps are missing.

After looking online i see that there caps that come with different background colors, grey, red, blk and green.

The green, blk and red are aftermarket new, while the gray ones appear to be used oem.

Just want to get the ones that came with the car when it was new.

Also are these caps prone to fall off or are they gettting stolen?

I thought I might add a dab of jb weld to the tabs of the new ones to keep them on.

Any help is appreciated.

 

Silver on black, or gold on black is going to look great on your car. I'm pretty sure it was silver on black for factory black cars.

 

I have red on a Black '95 VDP. No reason to believe they are not factory equipment. I'm third owner. Haven't yet had a center cap depart since my initial exposure to Jags beginning with an 03 Stype (16" wheels), 05 Stype (18") and now 95 VDP (16")...all still in the family.

 

Sorry, forgot to mention, 03 Stype (first Jag) acquired in fall of 2008....so only a couple of years, not 7

I should have been clearer, currently the red & green I've seen on ebay are all labeled as aftermarket.
The grey used ones are labeled as oem used.

I know there are green/red/blk caps that are oem for different models. Just wasn't sure which was original for a base '95 in black.

I'm leaning toward the grey ones to match the alloys.

 

It's funny, I've seen red caps on BRG X300s and they look great. But It doesn't work as well the other way around (green caps on a red car). My red X300 has red centre caps. I think originally the caps are the same colour as the body.

 

Green caps where factory on black XJ's with dimple wheels. Jaguar green came with grey.

 

For some reason the caps on my green 95 VDP were red, which bothered me more than it should have. I replaced my rims with ones from a 97 XK8 that had green caps and I'm much happier with the way it looks.
