Default Chrome trim on rear bumper - new screws?

As I'm currently working on my jag, I'm doing some other bits and bobs that have been on the to do list for quite some time.
I sourced an almost-new centre chrome trim for the rear end, however the screws that came out have almost no thread on them left.
I fear if I buy identical replacements, the threads in the new chrome trim won't have enough "meat" on them left to hold the new screws either.
What do I do? I can get self tapping screws with a fairly flat head and a similar (but faintly larger) diameter, does this sound like a reasonable solution?

Also, I've seen that one of the rear bushings where the bumper screws into (the ones that you can set for different heights), is broken. Where can I find replacement parts for this? Does it have a name or part number?

I took the stainless strips off my rear bumper the other day (for painting the bumper). The screws are M3.5 thread forming screws. You could just get an M3.5 pan head, or if the hole in the strips are a bit large, then an M4 thread forming screw. Just search for fastener suppliers.

The mounts are available from Jaguar classic here:
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/parts/index/part/id/C50.C5082.C5082412.C50824125148/brand/jaguar/
But at £444.00, you might well want to get one from a Jaguar breakers somewhere near you.

Thx for the info about the screws
.
I was hoping to source only the (aluminum?) threaded part (see pic, a bit too much light but you'll see that the outer part of the mount is cracked over the entire height), and not the entire shock absorber...
I'll see what I can find at a scrap yard. Not going to pay 444GBP for something that I can (or should be able to ?) machine myself, if necessary.

Have you seen this thread?

Another option to stay original - have a look at an XK8 rear bumper bracket. The black plastic is clearly a different shape but the aluminium bracket and threaded adjuster look very similar to the X300:

Worth checking for compatability because the XK8 brackets cost a lot less.

The aluminium part is not available on its own.

Try this from British Parts @ £61 each .....

Thx for both suggestion.
I'll see if I can source the X300 parts first (the XK8 adds to the availibility list, and from the other thread you linked to, the X308 looks identical as well)

Thx V126man, huge difference, but I have got to say that 61 GBP is still too much for me (at least for such a non-visible part).

Some pics, as I always like to see pics in other threads...
Will post pics again when everything's back together.

I love the work bench mod to support the bumper. So simple it's genius. Why did I never think of that?
