Regarding the location of the valve, if I recall, on the X300 the lines coming from the tank to the fuel filter are rigid, so I would try to find a section of flexible hose in the engine bay leading to the inlet of the fuel rail (near the firewall). If you find a flexible section further rearward between the filter and fuel rail, that would work too, but off the top of my head I think that entire stretch of fuel line is steel.
Please keep us informed.
Cheers,
Don

Well, while waiting for the check valve to arrived other items i ordered were arriving. So friday an ignition coil i ordered arrived to swap for the broken one i had on the 1st cyl. After installing the new one the car has been starting always at first/second crank.....
weird! I’m not throwing a party just yet but it seems to have cured the problem?!

Always great to see a problem resolved, but for future reference, are we concluding that fuel pressure was being lost through leaking injectors? An interesting possibility, or could it have been leaking injectors flooding the cylinders?
Im not trying to look a gift horse in the mouth, but am genuinely interested, as this seems to be a "new" type of failure for these cars.
