Hi,
I was wiring up my new Alpine system in my 96 XJ6 today so I disconnected the battery (what was I thinking!). Now when I connect the battery the alarm goes off immediately. I tried random combination of things with the car key, ignition switch and doors but the alarms rings and the car does not start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I have a FOB but it is not programed to my car. I was actually going to do that after connecting the battery. After all, the stereo comes before a working fob, right?

Problem solved. Earlier today while installing door speakers I fixed a problem with my door lock. This required my removing the wiring plug. Well I am embarrassed to say that I forgot to replug the cables. All is well now. I will now try to program the FOB.

How did you get the alarm to stop without having the key fob programmed?
