Coolant Service on 1996 XJ6
Hi everyone,
This might be a silly question, but can I go anywhere to get my coolant serviced on my 96 XJ6? I guess the question is, is there something special/ unique to a Jag that a "regular" shop might know
about?
Kind regards and than in advance,
Mike

You don't need a shop. It is a very easy do it yourself job.
1) Buy about 7 gallons of distilled water.
2) Remove the lower radiator hose, let all coolant drain.
3) Fill system with distilled water, run engine up to temp. Drain again
4) Repeat until water comes out clean.
5) Fill with about 75 percent coolant 25 percent water mixture (since there is water still in the system) and you're done.

Thanks very much. I appreciate the response - I plan on looking after my XJ6. Loved the cars since I almost bought a black 84 many years ago .. was not ready for it (I know that now ... not then, ha ha) ... well, thanks!
Good advice from AJ16er. Don't drain the old antifreeze on the ground as it is very toxic. Plan on catching it in a container. Since it is biodegradable most cities and towns will let you dispose of it in your home sewer system. You might want to check it out where you live.
