Cooling fan replacement.

You can replace the single fan but the whole assembly pulls straight up to come out and worked on as easier , no coolant draining needed as the radiator remains
Do not pull the plastic fan motor connector release too far out as they will break
To test the fan there is a 3 wire connector on the aft lower left radiator and a paper clip from one white wire in the connector to the blaclk wire will give you single fan
Remove clip and the other white wire to that black will give you both fans
This with the key in the run position and engine not started
This is a low current section of the fan control circuit so no arcing hazard
Sure it is the fan and not water pump or alternator ? You can remove both fan connectors and give it a try
You can put the handle of a long screwdriver up to and pressed against your ear and use it as a stethoscope to locate noise , place the tip on the fan motor
Same thing works with a very long socket wrench extension
But you have to be very careful with your hair

Parker 7. Thank you so much for your elaborate reply..! Excellent directions also..! Good news about having to change only one fan instead of the whole thing. It’s the one one top, it is wiggly and squeaks before the engine ignites. On a side note: I once tried to locate a faulty spark plug on a 69 gtx with my hoodie on, laces pointing down at the running fan for a brief unsuspecting moment. That won’t happen again. Again, thank you for your reply, much appreciated..!!!
