Cylinder sequence

The AJ6 and AJ16 engines are numbered 1 to 6 front-to-back.
The earlier 6 cylinder engines were numbered 1 to 6 From the REAR to the FRONT but it was timed from #6 front cylinder (go figure).
The FIRING ORDER is the same as MOST in-line 6 cylinder engines........1-5-3-6-2-4.
When I was a young punk I was taught the way to remember the 6 cyl firing order.
(15 is too young, 36 is too old, but 24 is just right.)
Some things you never forget.

Thats what I thought. A friend of mine who has had quite a bit of experience working on jaguars kept trying to convince me that it was the opposite.
I learned the firing sequence the same way lol. My grandfather taught me when I was much younger. I'll never forget it. When grandaddy brought me home I was sooooo excited to tell my parents about everything I had learned
Needless to say my mother wasn't to pleased with her dad when I spouted out the firing sequence...
