Dead pedal / footrest
I find the dead pedal to be uncomfortably distant in my XJ. Same with the controls in the center stack, but that's a much stickier wicket and so will not be in scope for this thread.
I'd like to know if anyone else has had a similar complaint, and what is the best way to address it? Ideally, building up sheetmetal on the floor and remolding the carpet would be quick and easy but it isn't. I'm just looking for a couple extra inches, <insert punchline>. The obvious fix is to wear a platform shoe on the left foot when driving. Guess I'll try that first.

Give the dead pedal a look close, There a way of making it taller or shorter. Look for two bezels in the foot of the pedal. Pop the two bezels out and look in the holes for two screws that attach it to the floor. In your case you could attach a shaped board to elevate the dead pedal with two holes for the two screws. I might be wrong seeing it was so long ago.
