Default Fan clunck

Hi, when sitting in the car at idle, I sometimes hear a clunck noise when the fans engage and can also slightly feel it. Unfortunately with the bonnet up and me listening it hasn’t happened, with the car stopped the fans move freely when I turn them by hand, is this a bearing or something on the way out? Any suggestions?

There are little balancing weights that may have come loose but you wouln't be able to account for them missing

Someone recently had a pic of the fan motor top assembly but I can't find it

The X308 fans can be used as a replacement that someone recently covered in a thread

Maybe the A/C compressor is engaged and the fans start running?

There was a TSB (wiring modification) to engage the fans with the ignition switch to eliminate the 'blown-fuse' fault when the fans jumped to high without the fans already running at low speed first.

The TSB that Motorcarman ( Bob ) is referring to has a jumper wire on the 2 wire freon low pressure switch

You may not even have this low pressure switch

If you need this jumper a X300 just came into the local salvage yard and I can mail it to you if you PM me

There is a distinct sound when the fans go into high speed, which I guess could be described as a "thunk" . It always seems to me to be a combination of the relay operating, combined with the extra load on the fan assembly and the charging system. Could be a different "thunk" from the one you are talking about, as the one I hear doesnt sound concerning at all.
