Fan still running

I noticed whenever I turn off my car(95XJ6), the fan will stay running for 2 minutes or so. I don't think it is hardwired because its running when the battery is shut off. Could it start a fire?

Some vehicle fans do continue to run for a short time after the engine has been shut off just to ensure the engine doesn't overheat.
