The X300 and X308 are similar.
Be sure to orient the rear bushing correctly when installing.

You might get a large balljoint press to work by just lowering the subframe slightly but the factory method is to remove entire assy.

Here are some old TSBs for reference.

Well I'm replacing with a whole new v mount. So I asume I do not need a press and it comes with them pressed in already?
I will need to remove the whole assembly since I'm gonna replace the whole assembly

Motorcarman is talking about the rear mounts which are pressed into the subframe. Tough to do those without removing the subframe.

The front vee mounts are easier, although still fiddly and can be done by dropping the front of the subframe, it's tight though. You will need to compress the front springs to allow the frame to drop enough. Be careful of damaging the steering tower though.

If you are doing front and back mounts and engine mounts, I'd drop the entire frame, it's not too bad of a job. I recall you were planning on replacing the wishbone bushes? If so, dropping the frame and doing everything at once will be a lot easier.

Yah I need to do lower wishbone bushing.. wheel bearing. Ball joints.. tie rod end. Rack n pinion. Motor mounts. V mounts.

So if I have to remove spring for wishbone anyways.
Its been a bitch to drill threw that rod. Only half way threw. And used 6 battery charges from drill.

I have crazy knock and cluncking from front. And all the bushing/mounts are 20 year old org

Would it be better to just do

Rear shocks. Bushing. Wheel bearing. Spring seats. (Any suspension part in rear)

Same time as front?

How would the steering tower become damaged?

Well if you are planning on doing all that, you will be much better off dropping the subframe.

What kind of drill bit are you using? It will need to be diamond tipped if your rod is hardened.

Matter of personal preference. For me I would do the front end and get it sorted then do the rear if necessary.

If you just lower the subframe from the front pivoting it on the rear mounts you only get about a half inch drop before the tower fouls.

Do you have a copy of the workshop manual? If not, I recommend downloading it from the 'how to' section. It will contain detailed procedures for many of the tasks you want to take on.

Essentially, you will need to do the following.

Use an engine brace to support the weight of the engine.
Get the car up on stands and remove front wheels
Displace brake calipers, wheel speed sensor and remove the rotor
Compress then remove front springs and dampers
Disconnect tie rod ends from steering knuckle
Disconnect and remove steering rack (you can just lower it if you are not replacing it at this time)
Support the subframe crossmember with a jack.
Undo fittings for engine mounts, front and rear subframe mounts.
Slowly lower the subframe using the jack and taking care to remove any hoses/cables etc that may be in the way.
Once the subframe is clear it will be easy to replace the engine and subframe mounts and take apart the wishbones to replace bushings/balljoints etc.

I've probably left something out but that's the gist. I'm sure others will chime in.

Take your time and make sure you bag and tag all the nuts, bolts, shims etc. taking pictures along the way may help too.

With the subframe out, it will be a good time to inspect/clean the engine and ancillary parts.
