How to remove the lower timing cover?
So I have picked up my "new" 1995 XJ6 VDP from New Jersey over the past couple of days (lot of driving in a short period of time)
If anyone recalls from my earlier posts, this car is supposed to have a broken lower timing chain according to the seller/previous owner.
I still have to get it off the trailer this morning so I can return the rented car trailer to Uhaul but I was wondering if anyone here can tell me about the steps necessary to remove the lower timing chain cover.
The previous owner had removed the radiator, rad fans, crank pulley assembly and other bits from the front of the engine but he quit when he reached the timing chain cover.
Does the oil pan or the cylinder head have to come off before the timing chain cover can be removed?
Front grill removed to show disassembled engine

Wow, Jim's website is a treasure of information. Since he no longer owns his car, I hope this valuable material on his web site does not get lost.
When I have time later this weekend, I plan on saving copies of the pages that are available there.
This is the sort of material that clubs like JCNA should be saving or archiving.
BTW, thanks much for the information.
