HVAC Codes?

Is there a way to pull trouble codes or run a diagnostic on the A.C & Heat System? 1997 XJ6

Thanks...but that thread does not give info on how to retrieve the codes.
I need to find out how to get the control panel to give me the heat and a.c. codes
