Intelligent sounder issues ....
My batteries had corroded inside my original intelligent sounder so I removed it done some research and found that the ones with no batteries are apparently interchangeable and plug and play ....
so waited weeks for a replacement to arrive from
abroad and plugged it in and still no beeps when I lock the car despite the plug fitting the unit and it being a known working one 🤦♂️
any ideas please .....

Did it beep in the past?
The beeping on Alarm setting/unsetting is a programmable function and can be set with Jaguar IDS.
I have it turned off on mine. Maybe yours was turned off prior to ownership?

You will need access to IDS (the old Jaguar Diagnostic software) or WDS (the even older system). For IDS, you will also need a car hardware interface called a VCM (note NOT a VCM II). These are very hard to get hold of now and are expensive when you can find one.
Or find someone locally who has the system and give them some beer to do it for you, or find an Independent Jag specialist who will probably have the right gear. I suspect most main dealers may not have the capability to interface to 25 year old cars.

There might not be a configuration for the X300?
Might just be plug&play?
Not all markets are the same. I am only familiar with the North American market and I have not done the day-to-day repairs in a while.

Since the sounder had no power the SLCU may have seen this and the sequence logarithm in the SLCU may be stuck somewhere other then the points desired
The points in question would be the normal zero state as well as other points as you operate it in a fully functional system
Hard Reset ?
would have to consider the radio security codes in a non US model
Not in this application but sometimes batteries are replaced with charged capacitors to keep a voltage on a external device so the subject device does not respond in a way you don't want to
See page 147 through 152 and the sounder not included in RHD vehicles ? at pin CA21- 13 and 26 for NAS ( North American Specification )
