Jaguar XJ6 - Engine Light (P1401)
Hey,
I was stopped at a stop sign today and my car just randomly turned off, I restarted it with no problem. The engine light came on after that. I hooked up a code reader and it shows P1401 which relates to "DPFE Sensor Circuit High Input." Does anybody know anything about this or what the exactly problem is and how it can be fixed?
It's a 1995 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas!
Many Thanks,
Mitch Cal

The JTIS literature shows this code as "EGR position circuit out of range" Since the car quit, I assume it represents a high egr flow, so I would take the EGR valve off and clean it- well after I checked that it's wire was still connected.
holy yep very easy to change out if you want, but can try cleaning it 1st, might get you by for awhile, but if you decide to change it out its easy 2 bolts and electricall connection, but i would also use the gasket with the screen, it stops most of the carbon. And be sure to clean the 2 holes that the EGR fits over clean all teh carbon deposit you can out of it with a good cleaner, and a round bottle type brush, you need good airflow. How long has it been since you change o2 sensor?? front 2 are very easy to change out,, backs harder, new spark plugs?? i had Check engine lite on too,,,,,,, i replace egr as the last thing, lots of carbon build up cleaned reallllll good, car drives like a dream now
