Default Jaguar XJR Manual Day

Dear All,
Below are details of a one-off event being organised next year for owners of manual XJR6 cars.

CELEBRATE THE XJ-R X300(6) – MANUAL – NEXT YEAR

The XJ-R was introduced as a high-performance sport model, and it was Jaguar’s first-ever supercharged road car (and only the second Jaguar road car to use forced induction, after the turbocharged Jaguar XJ220.)

Jaguar X300 XJ-R Manual Day will be held on Sunday 18th August 2019

Attendance will be by invitation only, so if you own a JaguarX300 XJ-R Manual, please contact Letitia@xclusively-jaguar.co.uk

The event is open to ALL Jaguar X300 XJ-R Manual cars (concourse, racing, modified, daily drivers, in restoration etc).

The event is being kindly hosted by Jaguar enthusiasts, Nigel and Wendy Webb.

All questions and replies to invitations should be made to Letitia@xclusively-jaguar.co.ukon Nigel and Wendy’s behalf.

Full details of the venue and directions will be sent out, by request, in due course.

Invitations are limited to owners of Jaguar X300 XJ-R Manual cars ONLY and therefore we will need your name, plus the registration number, chassis number and year of manufacture of your JaguarX300 XJ-R Manual as proof of ownership.

Please note that your Jaguar X300 XJ-R Manual need not be roadworthy in order to attend – you may attend with or without your Jaguar X300 XJ-R Manual, drive it or trailer it to the event.

This is not a competitive event – merely a gathering of theJaguar X300 XJ-R Manual family!

It is intended to be an informal gathering with a BBQ and picnic, along the lines of a garden party with cars!

Details of the day will be confirmed in due course, but the basic format will be as follows:

1.Gates open at 11.00am.

2.BBQ facilities, celebration cake, soft drinks, tea and coffee will be provided.
  1. Bring your own picnic and choice of meat to cook on the BBQ.
  2. A saxophonist will entertain us throughout the day.
  3. Guest speakers to be confirmed, but in the past these have included Jaguar personalities such as Norman Dewis, Jonathan Heynes, Keith Helfet, David Marks, etc.
  4. £10 per car will be charged at the gate, to be donated to the Mike Hawthorn headstone restoration fund – further donations to this cause can be made via bank transfer if desired.
  5. Event closes circa 16.30, but guests are free to leave beforehand should they wish to do so.
  6. Those travelling from further afield may like to join Rob Jenner, Letitia Mace and David Marks for dinner at Stanhill Court Hotel the evening before the event. If so, please indicate this in your reply in order for us to make necessary arrangements.

This will be a rare and historic event for the XJR6-manual group, a gathering some 24 years after the first XJR6 rolled out of the dealer's showroom. Wonder how many XJR6 RHD motors are still running, under restoration or storage.

So far there are 19 RHD cars expected to this event, though a number of owners are yet to reply. When I created the register of manual XJR6 cars, I identified owners for 56 of the RHD vehicles.

Hell, Andy, that sounds fun.
would you accept an ‘imposter’ manual, as mine was originally auto but was converted to factory-spec manual, be OnEdge, as you know.
however if I had the time /$$££ to ship a car to England from NZ i’d Probably have to opt for my dad’s Alvis 12/50. It has never had a field trip to its Coventry birth place, and next year is the centenary of Alvis....

Manual conversion will be welcome at the event. However, we would expect to see some photographic evidence of the conversion, prior to receiving an invitation, as such cars will not be on my register of factory-built manuals.

I'm sure that someone will be writing an article about the event, which is set to be the biggest ever gathering of manual XJR6 cars.

Dear All,
Just a quick reminder that this event is taking place on 18th August. If anyone has a manual XJR6 and wishes to attend this event, and has not already booked with Letitia Mace, then pleas email me (andystodart@metronet.co.uk) ASAP.

Read an car sale ad on xclusively-jaguar site that says about 40 of the 102 RHD XJR are still alive. 40% survival rate is not bad at all for a 22-25 years' old marque. Hope they can hold their value and some will be long term keepers.
