2x Lithium 2016 in mine. Just make sure they are Lithium and NOT Alkaline. There's an awful lot of Alkalines falsely sold as 'Lithium' both on ebay and Amazon, as I had to find out when I ordered my spares. Alkalines are a lot cheaper and don't last very long.

The remote needs 6volts. While the 2032 is the same diameter as the 2016, it's still only 3 volts. So you need 2 batteries to get to 6 volts & (2) 2032's are too thick to fit.
