Default leaking fuel rail

So, very long story short. I took off the fuel rail to clean the injectors and test them. when i put it back on the connection closest to the back of the engine has a leak in it. i guess i may have twisted it by accident.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do?

i was thinking about silver soldering it but i don't have any experience with that type of connection. Has anyone done this?

As far as buying a used one on ebay well, there is no guarantee that one doesn't leak as well.

This is like a catch 22 problem im damned if i do and damned if i dont i feel lol

ALSO Were the fuel rails the same for all 4.0L engine jaguar models from 1989-1997? I know the part numbers are different but they look exactly the same.

The rail is leaking at this point on the other side.

No related experience here, either.

Maybe a radiator shop could solder it up, if soldering is appropriate?

OTOH, a used rail probably wouldn't be much of a gamble. Can't say that I've ever heard of this failure before, personally, so the chances of getting a good one are high, I'd thunk.

<shrug>

+1 on obtaining a used fuel rail - I would pass on soldering that joint....

Well, Doug or anyone would you say that this is a direct replacement? even tho it is off of a 95 XJS?

According to JDHT the X300 4.0 and the XJS 4.0 (starting with VIN 194775) use the same part number fuel rail: NDB3400BB

I'm fairly certain that any 1995 XJS would have a VIN later/higher than 194775 so, yes, it should work.

(I suspect that 194774-earlier would be the AJ6 4.0 litre and 194775-later would be the AJ16 4.0 litre)

Cheers

When you install the replacement make sure you use a backup wrench to avoid stressing the "tower" at the joint.
