Default LED bulb sizes

So im sending my clock to get fixed by module masters. They are changing the bulb color to a nice blue and i wanted to know if anyone knew the bulb sizes for the climate control so that i may change them to blue as well. I also ordered chrome rings that will go in the speedometer, since i have to take the entire speedometer out to do this i figured i should change the lights to blue too. Does anyone know the bulb sizes for the cluster as well and where i can get these bulbs(LED)? Thanks guys!

Well since i havent seen any responses i figured i'd let people know the results of my many purchases of different led bulbs. I have found that the bulbs for the ac and clock unit are neo-wedge bulbs and the way you find out what size they are is by measuring the base. I have listed the sizes below. The 8.7mm are t3 and the 10mm are t4. In regards to the speedometer, i have led diodes with no base coming in, when they do come in my plan is to take the existing bulbs that are in the speedometer, remove the incadesent bulb and replace them with the blue led bulbs and bend them downward so the light spreads out more and there wont be so many bright spots. Enjoy!
Air-Con Unit:

1: 8.70mm Blue Cap
2: 8.70mm Blue Cap
3: 8.70mm Blue Cap
4: 10mm Blue Cap
5: 8.70mm Green Cap
6: 10mm Blue Cap
7: 8.70mm Blue Cap
8: 8.70mm Blue Cap
9: 8.70mm Blue Cap
10: 8.70mm Blue Cap

Clock Unit:

1: 10mm White Cap
2: 10mm Blue Cap
3: N/A for my vehicle
4: 10mm Blue Cap
5: 10mm Blue Cap
6: N/A for my vehicle
7: 10mm Blue Cap

Good info on the bulb/LED's. Where did you get the chrome speedometer rings from? Any pix of them installed?

Could have sworn I listed the neo wedge sizes in my thread, but now I can't see them anywhere - I can even see the numbered reference pictures, but I must have inadvertently edited out the key at some stage...

EDIT: Never mind, I remember now; the 'T3' and 'T4' are size codes. And jaguar used some completely obscure size for the smaller ones, so you could either use a mixture of T4s loose fitting T3s, or modify the smaller sockets to fit T4s as well (I did the latter).

Note that there were some conflicts when I installed my LED replacements. Some of the bases they came in had to be trimmed, as well as some of the bulbs themselves otherwise they would reduce button travel. That info is still in the thread. The reference photos have all the socket polarities marked too.

Indeed you are correct about the mixture of sizes. For example, the sunroof control panel has 8 leds in it, and one would think they are t3 but they are actually better suited for t4's so long as you drill out the hole a bit with a drill. then they fit nice and snug. Also in regards to the chrome rings, i got them on ebay and it gives the car a nice modern look. only cost 60$ with shipping. Check out ebay item number 300643793169. install is pretty simple. and while youre at it, you might as well swap out the stock bulbs for leds as i did. i will put up pics when i can remember! lol

I installed neo wedges and felt they were just too bright for night time driving. Don't put them in the clock whatever you do.

Yes they can be quite bright, but there is a thread on the FAQ section which explains how to reduce that, either by frosting the bulbs, painting them with white paint, or both. I didnt do either, i simply bent the bulb terminals downward and it had a great effect! not too bright at all!

It's 2026.. useful thread and info, has anyone bought neo wedge bulbs for the clock recently? Interested to know what are the best ones to buy.
The original bulbs are capped blue, should I get green or blue?

I've read about the t4 neo wedges being too bright and needing to be turned at an angle but these ones screw 90 degrees into the little circuitboard.

the two clock bulbs are in the center where they scorch the clock ribbon.

I have three clocks, my original one and a couple of wrecking yard editions, one of which has a fascia/ missing buttons too wide for my car but useful for parts, bulbs, screen etc.

i currently have a wrecking yard clock staged in the car
//(along with a 'new' wrecking yard head unit that has a readable screen, functioning cassette deck and will play cds from the trunk/boot changer. The old one played intermittently, this one is stuttering cd play. Still need to find out what's going on, if it's the din plug or at the changer end causing issues but getting there).

// I was looking at
these green ones these green ones
, (or blue), will they work if painted, shielded etc? Presumably they're not going to scorch the new ribbon I have ready to install but might be way too bright?

Also for those who have done this not quite sure what the best solution is with new ribbon? The old clock was very faint and unreadable, the 'staged' junkyard one is brighter but has a 'gray' screen rectangle around it, hard to see if I can actually change the time, which is why I have it 'staged' sitting proud of the fascia to test. I will probably try to repair the original clock, although that one (96 x305 v12 has a slightly mysterious plastic casing enclosure holding the circuit board and ac buttons etc I haven't figured out yet.

I did find this link in the FAQ
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...dimming-38712/
But interested in any new bulb purchase options.
It appears 'Warm White t3 neo wedge 3000K dimmable' is what is needed in 2026, I ordered some..
