The RH outside mirror on my 1996 X300, part number 3001-962, got broken. Since a new one would cost something over $100, I was thinking of looking for one in a junkyard.

Does anyone know if this part is specific to the X300, or whether one from other models (most likely the X308) might be the same. If so, it would greatly increase the chances of finding a used one.

Start by hunting on ebay, BUT, I am pretty sure that the body styles are almost exactly the same for X300 as X308. The bumpers and turn signals are slightly different but they others are the same.

Can't hurt. Take your broken base off the car, use your connectors to see if they are like the connectors on the newer model.
