Hi Heather,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us!

Could you please explain the problem in more detail? Are the cylindrical plugs of the chargers too large to fit into the lighter socket, or do your chargers have the transformer built into the top of the plug and it is the transformer that is coming into contact with some obstruction, preventing the plug from seating all the way?

Cheers,

Don

My apologies. I didn't word my question accurately. I want to charge my phone while driving. I have used the same cigarette lighter chargers in various cars but they don't fit in the Jaguar.

See if you have power to the receptical with the heater plug and if not check the fuses # 9 / 20 amp LH heelboard and # 14 / 10 amp RH heelboard fuse box behind the lower panel bey the rear seat passengers foot location and relay # 6 RH heelboard fuse area .

Welcome to the forum, Heather. Have you tried plugging it into the power point at the rear of the center console?

Inasmuch as the cigar lighter ports in the X300 are a common size to every other car brand/model I've seen, I have to believe Don is onto the issue with his question about other obstructions. I know the lighter port just under the center armrest, located down inside the ash tray compartment can be problematic for many transformer configurations. But I think the rear seat port is fairly open.

A number of years ago, I was looking for a slightly different solution - to charge my phone while NOT driving, while not in the car and the key not on - In our X300's, the cigar lighter ports are unpowered with key "Off."
I settled on a cheap ($20 ish, I believe) 400W power inverter hardwired to the +Bat and Ground lugs shown in Parker's RH Heelboard post. The inverter sits comfortably on the tray at the base of the back of the center console and provides a 5V usb outlet as well as two grounded 110V ports. Since it is effectively hard-wired to the battery, it will charge as long as you have it switched on (and your battery lasts!) The important caveat with this solution is to remember to turn the inverter off if you will not be driving the car for several days.

Same problem 2004 XKR. I purchased 4 and non fit into the receptacle of the lighter well enough to make contact. The lighter works fine. The hole seems to be too big for the universal charger or the contacts aren't in the correct spot. 1 wood work off and on but it broke.
