Default OBD reset for SRS

I have a 1996 X300 Base model, and the airbag module died and blew the fuse in the boot knocking out the complete dash. The module was replaced with a junk yard unit which was later removed when the airbag warning came on again and sent away for rebuild. put the repaired unit in and went to the local Jaguar Land Rover dealer but they cannot read nor reset the DTC's Does anyone on the forum have the computer and cable that will talk to that buss to clear the codes and make the car operational again. I am not against renting, purchasing, or borrowing such a unit with a guaranteed return.

To my knowledge, the SRS ECM is basically self-clearing. It does a check at every startup and the MIL on the dash will turn off if no more faults are registered. I don’t believe there is any easily-obtained diagnostic equipment that will clear the SRS light on these vehicles currently.

Just went thru this whole diagnostic process on my own car. Brendan’s diagnostic procedure in the sticky link at the top of the forum here is likely your best bet. I’d start there.

The fact you still have the SRS light on would appear to indicate there is still an unresolved fault. What exactly did they rebuild on the ECM?

Brenden made an excellent overview and test of the X300 airbag system

Recently from reading others seem to be the safer fuse under a ceramic square in the SRS ECU

Your replacement ECU may have been actuated on the donor car

The instrument cluster fuse are in the left heelboard fuse box

I blew these fuses when I put the main car battery in backwards and was just a matter of replacing the fuses for the cluster

Referencing Brenden's Doc on page 19

Trunk fuse # 16 which must have the relay in the corner of the trunk fuse box close

To test this relay with the key in the run position and engine not started remove the relay and it should click in your finger top back to open

Fuse # 17 Right Heelboard fuse box is hot at all times bypassing the relay in it's corner

On all fuse boxes fuse # 1- 9 are hot at all times

fuse # 10 , 12 , 14 , and 16 require the relay in the corner to close

The remaining fuses are hot at all times so # 11 , 13 , 15 , 17

In your observation of the dash going dark one of the instrument cluster fuses is # 12 Left Heelboard fuse box

So the common factor is how these " King " relays in the corner distribute power around the car

The relays in this group are closed by a ground path provided by the ignition switch

This would be pin 5 of the ignition switch connector to car frame ground.

This ignition switch can be changed without the key barrel so no big deal if needed to be changed

So there are a couple of things to check before that
