Default P0400 series codes

My check eng. light came on today right after I was having some fun accelerating on a tight turn highway on-ramp. The codes are:

P0400 EGR flow
P0411 Secondary air injector incorrect flow
P0430 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold Bank 2
P0420 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold Bank 1

They apprear to be all related.

There is no noticeable performance difference.

Based on my reading of previous threads related to the P0411 I'll check the air injection pump fuse first.

Any other recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

I checked the air pump fuse today (25A, position F7 in right front fusebox) and it's good. Next move is to wait a couple of days until my code reader arrives so I can reset and see if the check eng. light goes off and stays off.

Thanks, Bob. Good to know that if I need to replace the air pump I'll need to replace it with the revised pump that's more heat resistant, and that'll require a 30A fuse.

The TB you provided also has another tip about a later design "bleed nipple" hose between the air pump and check valve.

I'll also be checking the EGR valve and perhaps clean it with carb cleaner. Related, would you recommend the EGR valve gasket with the screen?

Joe

Update:

Friday: noticed metal hose clamp was loose on breather hose on manifold and had slipped down the hose. I moved it back up to the proper spot and fastened it.

Saturday: Innova 3130c scanner arrives by Fed Ex. Ran codes, same codes appeared as read by Advance Auto Parts earlier in the week. Erased them.

Sunday: Drove alot during the day with check engine light off, then it came on late morning. Didn't address it until Monday morning.

Monday: Before driving to work I scanned and only found P0411. I erased it. I've since driven about 40 miles and to several destinations and no codes..... we'll see.....

Mine too had the P0411 code and then after awhile a P0430 as well. The breather hose on mine had a 1.5 inch gag ash in it...so I changed it and all works well again. No codes no nothing for 400 miles

Since my breather hose clamp had become loose probably at the time the codes first appeared, and slid down the breather hose away from the manifold and you noted that you had a gash in your hose, this weekend I inspected my breather hose the best I could (where visible) and found no signs of cracks or gashes. In fact, the hose looks very good.

While the codes reappeared about every other day last week and I erased them, they haven't come back since I erased them on Friday, and removed the breather hose connection to the manifold and cleaned the small amount of gunk out of the hose end and manifold nipple. So far so good. And, as I posted before, there have been no performance issues during this whole episode. In fact, the car runs like new.

Question though: if I remove the EGR valve to clean it with carb cleaner, do I need to replace the EGR gasket or can I reuse the gasket if it appears in good shape? If gasket replacement is needed, should I buy a screened gasket?

Thanks.
