Passenger Window does not open
Hi,
If I use the driver side switch or the passenger switch my passenger side window will not open.
For both switches I hear a click when I try to close the window but nothing when I try to open the window. The window is completely closed.
What should I look at next?
Thank you,
Jomo

Thanks for the reply.
The fuses are all good. Besides, isn't it true that each of the two windows fuses control front and rear window on that side of the car??
I'll check the relay once I find it!

I looked on page 26 of the Jaguar Sedan Range 1995 Electrical Guide and could not find any of the window relays. Can someone please inform me where they are?
Thanks,
Jomo

following the wiring digram it seems that there is no relays for the power windows as the relays appear to be built into the switchpacks.
it appears to run like this,
fusebox (RH + LH rear seat healboards) -->
switchpack --->
motor
the drivers switchpack sends the signal through the corresponding door switchpack.
check fig 17.1 in the electrical guide.
and figure 1.2 for the fuse locations.
and yes the fuses are same for each side.
so if one window on the passengers side is working and the other is not then it is not a fuse.
if neither window is not working then it is possibly a fuse.
given that the window does not operate from either the master switch assembly or the individual door assembly it is likely that the switchpack in the passengers door is broken.
if it was the master switchpack at fault then the window would still work form the individual door switch.
but due to the fact the master switch appear to merely operate the indivdual door switchpack then if there is a problem there neither switch will work.
it is possible that the switch pack is dead, it is possible that the switch inside is gunked up and not able close not sure if you can take them apart to clean them or not.
if not the switchpack fault then likely regulator/motor.
if you have previously been having issues with it working very slowly then that is a high chance.
TL : DR.
i think your passenger door switchpack is the fault.

Just to be sure, what you call a switch pack is just the switch that one uses to open the window.
For the record, the window was working perfectly and then one day nothing. This leads me to believe that the window motor is fine.
Thanks!

Spud,
Today armed with your advice that the switch itself was bad I was determined to verify that. I pushed harder than ever on that switch and of course the window went down... and up easily and down and up... It definitely is the switch. I'll order a replacement switch today.
Thank you for your time.

1997 XJ6R. I have disassembled the master switch pack on the drivers door. Multi meter shows that the windows that are working (PS F&R, DS R) are all receiving 11 vlts to the motors. Checked this by using the pins to test voltage between the circuit board dodads under the silicon button pads. The drivers window and the P & D mirrors are only getting .8 volts. Any ideas? I had the same results with a borrowed working switch pack. thanks - stu
What I found on mine was the lock bar to hold the sockets in place on the control module connector had come loose allowing the sockets to migrate away from making contact with the control
What I did do to verify the motor was to use a battery charger to drive the window up and down
