Purchasing used X300
I've been searching for used Jaguars recently, mostly XK8 but they are quite rare and very expensive in my country.
That being said, I noticed an X300 with 4.0 engine and it seems to be in decent condition. Here is the video of the vehicle:
I did not read about this model as much as I did for the XK. The vehicle is currently priced at 9000 euros (still a bit above what I'd like to pay for it) and has ~220k kilometers, so I'm just curious as to what people think overall about the condition of this car and how much should I offer if I check the car in person? I would use it as a second vehicle and to 10-15k km per year doing longer trips.
Owner provided a very long list of repairs done to the car in recent years. I won't copy-paste it, but it can be viewed at https://www.njuskalo.hr/auti/jaguar-...oglas-42216313 (translate page for english version). The car has been advertised for a long time, I suspect not many people here are interested in a 30 year old Jaguar, but I might be able to use that to drop the price down a bit.

I don't know much about the x300 other than what under the hood.
It's a reliable engine which happens to require occasional idle resets which can only be performed with certain devices loaded with Jag software. It's really the only issue with this engine. If you have access to the device, it's a few minutes of time to reset.
Make sure the air conditioner works, if that's important to you.
Looks to be in great shape.

I quick scan through the items done list it does say throttle position sensor replaced which is key to what Vee is talking about . If after replacement the idle speed comes in range or acceptable and what was the original reason for replacement
The factory spec for idle speed is X , see page Y
Ensure the differential fill plug can breathe as the mesh on the plug can get clogged , in the end pressurizing and pushing diff grease out the diff seals starving the bearings and then the bearings fail

I originally wanted an XK8 but purchased a 1995 XJR and love it. The 4 litre Sport is very similar but without the supercharger and associated engine mods. However, considering the distance it's travelled, the need for paint, a new headlining and front arm rest the price (if it was in the UK) is very excessive. Even half that figure would be too much.

The XK8 suffers a tonne more issues with the engine and you'll be looking at double the price for a similar condition motor. Regarding this particular X300, if its as described and it hasn't got any rust underneath around front floors and sills, its as good as it gets and will be extremely reliable car.
The only things I've noticed is, you'll need a new headlining and obviously arm rest, shouldn't cost more than a few hundreds euros and you'll have a luxury car that originally cost ~40k euros. You could probably have the seller lower the price a bit to cover those. Europe wise the price is fair to be honest, obviously its a completely different price range compared to UK prices.

G'day Addicted,
Here attached is the text of an article on the purchase of an X300 which might have some helpful info.
I have also included an article on how an X300 was rebuilt into a brand new car body.
Cheers,
Jeff.
