Remove Alternator 1996 XJR
Hi everyone,
I would be grateful if someone could point me to a "how-to" list on removing my alternator.
So far I have it completely detached but I am unsure if I need to pull the rad to get it out?
(I am taking it out the bottom because the supercharger is in the way...)
Aaron.

I am having a really tough time getting it past the lower rad hose and the transmission cooler fitting. It is very close to coming out but I could not figure out the right way to pop it out.
I did remove the lower hose to give me more room but still no luck. I will look at it with fresh eyes tomorrow.
Cheers,
Aaron.

Got it done without pulling the rad
1 dismount the alternator, kinda tricky. loosen all bolts. Slacken tensioner. remove belt and upper mount (which is the tensioner). Sneak lower bolt past fan shroud (need to be standing up for this).
2 drop rad fluid and remove lower hose (it is in the way.
3 remove fan shroud and sneak alternator down (stand up for this too) past the rad without damaging the rad.
I used the Jag jack to lift the driver side of the car a few inches but i did not need to jack up the car. I have lots of bruises and cuts...
Presto! you have a 1996 xjr alternator in your hands

Also, thought I would mention that I had to lightly (very lightly) tap the alternator housing to get it got back into the lower bushing.
I used a large pry-bar (with the top of the alt pointing away from the engine) heading straight down from above the engine. It had a plastic handle and I tapped the pry-bar with the Jag lug-nut wrench. There is a notch on the housing, I assume just for this purpose.
It went in relatively easy but I certainly could not get it to go in without the tapping.
