Replacing battery in X300 remote fob? How does one open the remote?
I'm at a loss in getting the X300 Jaguar remote lock/security fob open. There appears to be a battery 'cover' on the rear, or is that a decoy and the entire remote case splits in half?
If the area on the rear that appears to be a battery cover really is one, does the "battery cover" pry off, or slide off, or?
I've tried to slide the "battery cover" back toward the hasp, but it just won't budge with reasonable effort.
There is a small coin slot alongside the hasp, under the battery cover, but the battery cover seems to be separate from that slot. I think prying on that slot will break something if that slot is not for splitting the entire case.
In either case, I'm worried about breaking the case if I'm prying on the wrong part.
My owner's manual doesn't show how to open the remote. Is there some documentation or instructions on how the remote opens?
Didn't find any examples Googling, etc.

Don't pry it, that'll just separate the halves.
Here's what happened when I used a small screwdriver in the coin slot:
The keen eye will spot a failure in mine which means I'm not at all frustrated that I prised it apart.
The battery cover ends just above the pry-slot: Hard to get it in a position to take a photo, harder still to see the parting lines. I took a stab at marking them in "Paint" but I have rudimentary skills and I think PAINT isn't quite up to the task of what I was trying to do. Still, you see the problem.
As of now, I'm also unsuccessful in removing my battery cover. I'm sure someone will happen along presently with the rosetta stone.

So, once you accidentally pried the whole case apart, did that break anything or did/does it just snap back together?
If it separates and snaps back together without damage, I'd actually like to separate mine and bend & squeeze the brass ring back tight. Both of mine have the brass opening up a bit and sticking out from the case some.
BTW, I'm glad to know I am not the only one that was stymied by the battery door

PERFECT! Now that makes sense, and is actually a better solution than a lot of remotes. Of course unless you know the secret, you're likely to break the thing!
Thanks so much for the photos and explanation.

Later, walking out to the car it immediately came to me when I pulled out the FOB and found the unlock button cover missing. I pressed it back in place with a small marketing pen knife with the combo screwdriver/nail file but it usually sports a little gap. When I opened it up and found the inner flange of the rubber button broken off, I thought maybe getting it out of the way would help things fit better - it hasn't. Any one know if the rubber buttons are available as service parts?
Yeah...but I've changed the battery in both FOBs at LEAST once before and I had no clue how to get it off. Only had the car since 2010, too...guess the memory is going faster than the visual acuity.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I was trying to figure out how to change the battery in my fob and noticed you were looking for some replacement buttons.
There's actually some NOS buttons on eBay right now for $15. I ordered 2 sets in the anticipation of needing to repair my fob at least once in the next 10yrs, because the fobs and buttons are getting extremely hard to find.. and expensive.
