While servicing the rest of my power steering system, it was evident the two return hoses to the reservoir would need attention as they were both rock hard with age and heat-cycling due to proximity to the exhaust. the Cooler-to-reservoir hose has limited availability and i was able to source an OE one. However the Reservoir-to-pump hose (MNA3980AC) proved difficult in even finding an aftermarket option (in the US at least). The benefit here is that there are no fancy or model specific end or pressure fittings, so with a bit of effort, i was able to find a moulded hose that would sufficiently fit in its place. As i wasn't 100% certain this would be a success, i went with a Chinesium variant on Amazon for about $40 in case I had to return it.
With some trimming on the ends, it's a perfect fit, and you get the 90-degree moulded bend like the factory one. As a bonus, it also comes with a foil heat shield and abrasion protector sleeve. I also added additional heat protection tubing on this side of the car as well due to the exhaust.
Success! Figured this might help anyone who is digging into their power steering on a 6-cylinder like me.
Well done for finding it, I will have to get to mine too before next year March MOT. I've replaced the high pressure hose some time ago as it was very slightly leaking at the crimp yet still had a leak somewhere, it took me half a year to find the leak and found it accidentally too, it leaks only at startup, from cold and at that union which you can see in your last pic where you tighten it to the metal line, it leaks for about 30 seconds when I get out of my drive and then it stops. Go figure!
Only noticed with my head in the engine bay and by turning the steering wheel fully with one hand through the doors. Initially I was sure it was leaking from that line you replaced now, mine is rock hard too.
