Default Some models no door window chrome?

Hey all, first post in this part of the forum.

Soo What's going on here? I'm looking to buy an x300 and I've found a nice example at 137000km but the chrome that normally surrounds the Windows is black? What gives? Haha I like the chrome look.

Do some models not have the chrome? Or is this just a less luxurious model? It's from Singapore I believe.

Also, could this be changed to chrome?

Hello Harry , you'll find that there are various trim levels when it comes the x300 brand of Jaguar .. you have the XJ6 / Sovereign / Sport / Executive / XJR / XJ12 / Daimler and Vanden Plas models and you'll find each one has a different finish to the next .. I'm sure that the trim you'd like on your impending purchase could be retro fitted , all the best , pauljag ..

They are actually ALL stainless steel, some are just painted black.
The paint can be removed (carefully) and polished up.

I think 'generally' the XJ6's, Executives and Sovereign's had chrome effect window brightwork and the Sports & XJR's 'sport' black window surrounds...but this is Jaguar and there a few special editions and delete options...

Thanks for your help! So has anyone here removed this paint before? I'd think you'd want to remove the trim before stripping it. I guess thinners would be the best option. I have a series 3 and when I get this x300 I'd like the window chrome to be similar. It's one of the things I like best about Jaguars

Yes, I have. I got some new window weather strips, they cam in black, so used paint stripper and 0000 wirewool to remove the paint before polishing them back up again.

It's market specific too. XJR's in Canada/USA have chrome window surrounds, Europe doesn't

Thanks for the details! How are they attached? The ones on my Series 3 are riveted, at least some of them anyway.
