Default steering rack and pinion leak can be repaired

I am on to a project to repair and refit seal kit for my X300, will provide photos and instruction for those who wish to do the same project. Parts are readily available in the US but be careful to get the right one for your racks and rack end boots.

For what my replacement unit cost why would I want to go through the time and money to rebuild it myself?

Catnlion, you don't have to if you choose not to, this is a forum site for those who may choose to do so, its fun for techy individual and dull for those who are not. You may choose to buy a brand new one and no one is interested to stop you from doing so.

Now for those who are more adventurous, i have already documented and compiled, it was indeed fun and nice to know whats parts are within the rack and pinion assy. write me your e mail and will share in full with pictures of each and every part and steps in order to make sure it is equal to a brand new rack assy. And for those who are too proud they won't even have a chance to see and enjoy whats within.

Indeed it was a fun project.

This is Beblos. My rack is leaking somewhat on the drivers side only. 1996 xj6. would like the pics of "on the car" repair for the rack outer seal. Turns well each way but leaks. 142000 miles on it. what a car. thanks
