There is a black module in there with a little pointer and a tiny gear wheel that needs to be set up precisely right(white mark in the little window), otherwise sunroof wont open and close correctly. I found it complete PITA job and must have taken me 6 or 8 attempts and a number of hours to set it up right. They'll also need to clean up the wire driving the whole thing from all the fluff stuck in it(that causes creaks, binding, stripped gears and broken plastics). Hopefully nothing broke yet, otherwise it can be a proper can of worms.
LEAVE THE SLIDING ROOF CLOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(it not an essential option)
Not much us forum members can do about you paying for repairs that are not proper.
If you want advise on ways to repair the sliding roof, there are TSBs and JTIS procedures that you can do but relying on incompetent mechanics is frustrating.
The sliding roof was never the most reliable feature but it can be made to operate.
