Sunroof update
I took it to an independent place that specializes in sunroof repair and they said they can get me a replacement assembly and install it for 890 bucks. But they said they would have to redo the headliner which is 700 bucks....is the headliner repair necessary? Cant they just put it back up. I have pins in the back and they honestly don't bother me enough to spend an additional 700 bucks
Many of us DIY headining replacement for about $50 in materials and a few hours on a Saturday.
When they have the headliner removed for sunroof repair you could take the panel home for DIY replacement of material.
Those taking the car to a trim shop for headlining replacement usually report paying $350-$400.
Not sure why headlining replacement is *required* in this case....might be a good reason, I dunno....but I'm sure you can do better than $700
Cheers

You could always get two separate quotes:
- repair of sunroof with headliner already removed
- redo headliner
Then, have the trim shop remove headliner to do their part, drive over to the sunroof place for their work, drive back and have the headliner put back in.
