Thottle Spring
That is a work around instead of replacing the spring inside the throttle butterfly shaft tower
The original internal spring has been superseded by a stronger internal spring by a TSB
This ensures the TPS comes back to idle stop for proper idle and not be high
Does the cruise control work as the linkage looks wonky ?

I did that on a few cars while I was at the dealer when the replacement spring was back ordered.(my own cure)
Jaguar issued a TSB for intermittent high idle. (stiffer spring)
The spring setup (shown) is for the AJ6 throttle.
It is easily adapted to the AJ16.

You will probably have to buy the while TB assembly.
To know if you have the upgrade spring you can compare spring thickness with a micrometer
To know the donor car has be done there will be a sticker on the radiator area , if they followed instructions completely
You can always replace the existing spring with a stronger one if you have a present idle issue
Spring thickness is not the only variable for the spring strength

It is the upper spring that is broken. I need to figure out how to take the “top hat” off. But even if I do I will need to find a spring which I will have to find another complete top hat anyways. That is why I think I just need another one
